For Faculty

The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center provides institutional support to Center faculty such as conference travel support, course development grants, and assistance with conference and workshop planning and organization. REEEC-affiliated faculty can also apply for conference support from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences through the Center, as well as for support from International Programs and Studies for various international projects.

International Grant Opportunities at Illinois

  • Illinois International Programs (IIP) International Research Travel Grants
    (Deadline: Early November)

    The Illinois International Programs (IIP) International Research Travel Grant is available to regular, tenure-line faculty members for travel and related expenses outside of the United States for purposes of international research to be used during the summer of 2018 or parts of the 2018-2019 academic year. Grants range from $1,000 to $4,000 per award. The original source of these funds is an endowment initiated by a grant from the Hewlett Foundation that was matched by private donations and University funds.   • Illinois International Programs (IIP) International Conference Grants
    (Deadline: Early November)
    The Illinois International Programs (IIP) International Conference Grant is available to support small conferences involving leading experts on important topics of current scholarly interest that have a substantive international content. The original source of these funds is an endowment initiated by a grant from the Hewlett Foundation that was matched by university funds and private donations.   • Global Studies Seminar
    (Deadline: Early February)
    Global Studies is a multidisciplinary program of study that prepares students for the intellectual and professional challenges of our increasingly globalized society. The main objective of GLBL 296 seminars is to promote students’ thinking about global-scale problems from an interdisciplinary perspective. Seminar topics vary, but all are based on the program of study’s themes. These seminars serve as an introduction to specific issues, providing opportunities for initial research and discussion of current events and controversies. In addition to developing students’ knowledge of global topics, these seminars are intended to develop their analytical, deliberative dialogue, and possibly information technology skills, among other educational goals.   • Seminar Abroad Course Development Grants
    (Deadline: Early February)
    Expanding participation in study abroad opportunities is a principal goal of the University’s Strategic Plan. Specifically, the program seeks to increase the number and variety of faculty-led programs at Illinois, involve more Illinois faculty and departments in leading study abroad experiences, and support the integration of study abroad experiences with on-campus curriculum.
